Well, season’s here now . . .
. . . and we’re seeing those box office lines that confirm it. The hilarious comedy, The Underpants, wraps up this weekend. Cabaret (nearly sold out!) runs through February 12, followed almost immediately by an encore production of Always, Patsy Cline in the Pinkerton Theatre. That opens February 14 and runs through March 5.
The big event this weekend . . .
. . . is Eddie Carroll’s show "Laughter in Bloom", an homage to the late and great Jack Benny. One critic recently wrote "Carroll doesn’t just do Benny - he IS Benny." Carroll’s show is no stand-up act; it’s a Broadway-quality theatrical presentation, in the tradition of Hal Holbrook’s Mark Twain, James Whitmore’s Will Rogers, Robert Morse’s Tru and the late Frank Gorshin’s production of Say Goodnight Gracie.
It’s a captivating evening of theatre that has Jack Benny himself leading us on a fascinating tour of his rich life and six-decade career - from vaudeville to films and from Broadway to radio and TV. Carroll, who has been the voice of Jiminy Cricket since 1973, has been performing his one-man show for more than a decade now and it continues to draw sell-out crowds wherever it’s presented.
There will be three shows only - Sunday night at 8pm, Monday at 4pm and Monday night at 8pm. I’m told there are only 47 left for Sunday night and the other two performances are selling pretty fast. This is a great show and tickets are only $25.00.
Also got some auditions . . .
. . . this weekend, for Greater Tuna, a hilarious two-man show (they play multiple characters) which come to us from Tuna, the ‘third smallest town in Texas, where the Lions’ Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. From off-Broadway to hundreds of theatres nationwide, this irrepressible comedy has delighted millions in its 20-year history. Nancy Hoover directs. If you’re interested, show up here Sunday or Monday night at 7:30pm.
We’ve added some staff . . .
. . . cuz your theatre continues to GROW making more staff a must. Say hi to Bill Czarniak, assistant to the Facilities Manager, Scott Mersinger, Assistant Technical Director, and Jeremy Stone, Production Assistant.
See you at the theatre!
