VENICE LITTLE THEATRE'S
Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program
The Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) is an opportunity for students to participate in a true apprenticeship experience, and is supported by an education system. Apprenticeship is the oldest form of job training. Students work one on one with professionals in their area of expertise. Additionally, students earn college credit for the three semester classes (12 semester credits) that supplement the apprenticeship work. Those classes include Introduction to Technical Theatre I and II, Lighting and Sound, and Rigging. Students are expected to maintain a B average in their high school/college work, and honor any school commitments. Twenty percent of the total 1,500 apprenticeship work hours needed to complete the TTAP program can come from their work at school.
Upon completion of the Intro class and 500 apprenticeship work hours, students earn junior apprentice status with the the Florida Department of Education, Office of Workforce Education. During this time, the students are exposed to all backstage disciplines. |

After students attain the status of junior apprentice, they chose a primary and secondary area of concentration. The remaining 1,000 apprenticeship work hours will be in those areas of concentration. Once students earn 1,000 |

apprenticeship work hours they become registered senior apprentices. At that point, students that earn the privilege of being "paid" designers and they may be offered contract employment opportunities at Venice Little Theatre.
|
The TTAP program helps students, identify the correct path after completion of the program, whether it takes them directly into the work force or college.
