Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. VLT's very successful concert and cabaret series was born out of a basic need. Eight years ago, when I started here at VLT as the box office manager, we desperately needed to computerize our ticketing. With no money in the budget for new PC's, I asked if I could put on a little "fund raiser" concert. That year the "Sounds of Harry James and the Andrews Sisters" was the beginning of what has grown into one of VLT's most popular series. Quite accidentally we stumbled onto a void in Venice.Good, Live Music. The audience has grown tremendously since that humble beginning. We now bring in national acts like the Diamonds, John Davidson, The Kingston Trio and the Tokens. Our Cabaret Series has grown from one small cabaret show, with karaoke tracks as background, to a full fledged series that regularly plays to SRO audiences.
